Mexico – Day 4: Sun, wind and clouds

18 July 2026 · Klaus Demo · #mexico

Yesterday clearly left its mark. Eight hours of sleep, from 21:00 to 05:00. What woke me up, I think, was the wind, which was quite loud but somehow also very cosy, especially from bed. The fire in the fireplace was basically out but still glowing a little.

At some point we slowly woke up properly and had breakfast in the room. Hot coffee on the balcony with cushions and blankets was bizarrely beautiful and peaceful too.

This morning my partner went to their meditation ceremony and I stayed home at first. I didn't do much at all until my massage appointment at 10. The masseuse came up to the room with table and everything. 90 minutes. One of the ones you remember.

Afterwards I needed a bit of time to come back to myself. But that is the beauty of this place, you simply don't have to do anything. The whole town invites you to just watch the clouds in the mountains and read something now and then.

Honestly, that was exactly what we needed. And considering I didn't particularly want to come here in the first place, it is going to be surprisingly hard to leave tomorrow. But I think it fits, too. It feels right.

At midday I picked my partner up and we walked into town, had a late lunch and then went back to our cabin. My partner had a massage appointment in the afternoon and I took a tuk-tuk into town. Found the perfect café, right at the top of the village, terrace in the sun, comfortable armchairs, a book and a cold drink.

Everything is just very peaceful.

At some point, at the end of this glass of tinto de verano, I will make my way back down into town, buy something for breakfast, and then we have dinner ordered to the room for tonight.

21:00 to 05:00 with wind and a fire going sounds like the best sleep of the whole trip. I would take that over any hotel.
